As always, I enjoyed this episode. I love to see the brothers as children. I really feel sorry for the way they had to grow up. I guess it's me being a mom. The ghost story wasn't anything original. We've seen the story before, be it was well worth it to see how unhappy Sam is living this life.

We saw it at the end of Criss Angel, and we see it again in this episode...Sam is beginning to think long term with how he wants to spend the rest of his life. And one things becoming more and more clear to him...he doesn't want to be a hunter forever. Not surprising considering he never wanted that life to begin with. And going back to the pilot, he and Dean accomplished the goal that he wanted to accomplish, that being to kill Jessica's killer. Then of course other circumstances have kept him from abandoning the life such as Dean's deal, his psychic abilities etc. Can't wait to see what's in the future of this character!

What I loved about this episode was the fact that it wasn't a black and white/good and evil episode (well, this is Supernatural, of course it's never that simple, as we've been explicitely shown on a million occasions but still) it was so very gray... you could swim in all that gray! I had so many examples when I was watching the episode, but I can't recall them all right now... one that sticks out is that whole deal with Dirk and Sam. After Wee!Sam beat the poop out of Dirk, I was personally cheering and happy that Wee!Sam was sorta accepted/fit in and the bully got what he deserved and all that.
And then you learn about Dirk's side of the story and how the dad says Dirk was bullied at school, and by gosh, wouldn't ya know it, partly because of Sam. That sat weirdly with me-- it was such a clever twist. Sammy the goody-goody, being the one to start the 'Dirk the Jerk' trend. It was just.... *insert clever insight here... words kinda failing me* so intresting.

This episode also showed me something I'll stand by until future episodes actually air and prove me either wrong or right: I think whatever Sam's doing or will do (concerning the epic Dean vs Sam showdown) will only be because he very much believes he's doing the right thing. That line where Dirk calls Sam and Dean evil (or something of the like) and Sam says he's not (...twice!) made me really believe that his intentions are good. Maybe it was the puppy dog eyes, but I really don't think he'll be going darkside darkside. Like, 'MWAHAHAHA darkside'. Like, 'I take pleasure in your pain' darkside. I just think that Sam and Dean are going to have conflicting feeling about how to get 'whatever-it-is-they're-gonna-get-done' done-- like stopping Lilith and all-- and that's where the conflict will be. Cuz using the powers a demon gave him is frowned upon and seen as a bad thing/evil. I have total trust in whatever the show will throw at us, and am expecting anything and everything, but I don't see Sam going through that whole full-on-Meg-possessed kind of evil of his own accord. Maybe he'll use sketchier methods to get the job done, but still. The thing is, ya never know.

Darn you, Show, for being so good! *shakes fist*
Wow, yeah, that was kinda long... What can I say, this episode was awesome. 8)
