4x19 - "Jump the Shark"

Discuss the fourth season of Supernatural

I dont know how to take this ep. Maybe cause I expected the trickster...

But I did like the end when Dean made sure Adam got the Hunters send off. Do you think Sam acctually told Dean that the ghouls (which are creapy) that Adam acctually was their brother? Because when I watched that last bit it seemed more like Sam was holding the truth back.

I liked this episode! It really took our guys on an emotional rollercoaster. Dean was so conflicted because he didn't know if he wanted to like or hate his new "brother". Sam seemed to enjoy playing the big brother role for a change but he was also kind of cold. He is so not the Sammy that he used to be, but Dean isn't the same either (I must say that I love the role reversals and I think it adds to the versatility of the show and actors)!

That episode put me as well on a emotional rollercoaster  I didn't want to like Adam but when I found out that he really was their brother and that the ghouls killed him before the phone call. I was a mess!!!
I loved the role reversal as well samhill. It was awesome how the writers used Adam's character to give us insight into Sam and Dean's different feelings towards hunting etc.
Kripke: I just did it to screw with you guys. :D

One thing I forgot to mention in the episode (we recorded last night, it's in the editing process now) is how I enjoyed Sam being in the role of the big brother. It's obviously something we've never seen before, and I thought it was interesting how he seemed to take to that role quite easily. Personally I think it's unfortunate that the one time he gets to have the experience of being the elder sibling, turned out it wasn't his little brother after all. Sam seemed a more lot interested in getting to know his younger brother, and Dean was clearly more focused on the task at hand, and protecting Adam.
Hey Tim, what's that e-mail address again?

I quite enjoyed that too, I noticed the changing dynamic of all three brothers when one would slide out of the picture for a while. Like Sam would be acting like big brother to Adam (ie: in the scene where he tells him about how Dean killed the YED and they get attacked near the car) and taking control, but as soon as Dean came back, he takes the shotgun, shoots the bad guy and kind of takes over that big brother role again.

And it seems like one of the reasons Sam and Dean weren't clicking is that you have two brothers trying to be big brothers when Dean is used to little brother Sam so much (well, a lot less this season, that's for sure). They clash because (among other things) until now, Dean hasn't realized how like John Sam is and I don't think that's something he sees as a very good thing.

I believe Sam did tell him and if he didn't, I think Dean would know anyway because he presumably also knows what ghouls are and has seen both Adam and his mom's corpse knowing that he was leaving Sam alone with one back home which is why he was in such a hurry to get out and save Sammy! Which he did \o/!

Not too sure about that. I think it has more to do with the fact that they're at each others throats for any and everything this season, regardless of how big or small it might be.

Their disagreement was definitely about everything that's been happening this season, for sure, but (I should have written this out a little better before :? ) I meant in this episode particularly. It's just something else to add to the long list of why SamnDean are so at odds, increasingly so in each new episode.
