F13 sets box office record for slasher flicks!

"Friday the 13th" was a good day, leading to the best weekend ever, for horror. With an estimated $40.7 million dollars in ticket sales Friday through Sunday, down a little from original estimates, this remake of "Friday the 13th" has the best weekend debut for a slasher picture. For Friday through Monday, the film's estimated take is $45.2 million.

So what do we chalk the success of the movie up to? Jared's good looks? Or the quality of the movie itself?

Definitely Jared's good looks

Yeah I have heard many Supernatural fans say they'd go see the movie (this one and My Bloody Valentine 3D) to support their Supernatural stars, even if they didn't like horror movies in the first place. So... a lot of people who like horror already that might not know about Supernatural go see it, and a bunch of Supernatural fans go see it.... That equals a sold out showing of F13th, I'm guessing :D Yay!

I actually haven't seen it yet  -- I don't go to the theatre a lot-- but I heard from somebody over at buddytv.com that the showing she went to had people sitting in the aisles and the stairs because there were no more available chairs! Apparently the manager (or some dude of the like) came in and saw all these people sitting on the floor and they got chairs for all of them before restarting the movie. That kinda blew me away. I'm glad this movie is doing sooo well.

Heck, if it gets people to wonder what else Jared plays in (if for nothing than the prettiness of him on screen), they might get interested in watching Supernatural, so I'm all for it! Sharin' the love!

I AGREE... I went to watch it twice on opening weekend, once on opening night and another on Saturday. It was SOLD OUT both times and I saw it both times at the ginormous theater in Times Square. I can tell you that 40% of the crowd on both occasions were Supernatural fans... HOW DID I RECOGNIZE THEM? you might ask... Welllll it might be because the moment Jared's name came up during the opening credits screaming and woooo-ing erupted and HE HADN'T EVEN APPEARED YET! (I may or may not have contributed to the woooo-ing **looks around**)

Holy moly, I can only imagine the wooooo-ing that happened when he actually DID come on-screen. Man I wish I had been there.

That DVD is totally finding it's way into my dvd collection the second it comes out! Besides being a Supernatural fanatic, I love me a good horror flick! Now put the two together... pure happiness.

PS: Lululovesj2, can your icon rock my sox anymore than it does right now? Nope, nuh-uh, don't think so. What are ya trying to do, give me a heart attack? Cuz it might just work!
