NEW TRAILER!

Postby Tim on Sun Feb 22, 2009 6:27 pm

The CW recently posted a new trailer for Supernatural, beginning March 15. It is quite detailed and is enough to get people psyched about the next run of episodes!

First, let me say:    . Eloquent, no?

Upon watching this for the first time, my brain decided that all the clips were from the upcoming episode and shut down for about 6 minutes, leaving my mouth hanging wide open.
When I watched it the second time (after rebooting, of course), I kinda woke up the entire *sleeping* household by squeeing till my lungs gave out. Note that I saw this trailer late at night.
The third time took me about 30 minutes to watch it because I was freeze-framing every half-second. And yes, that is Castiel duking it out with Uriel.
Finally, on the fourth (and every subsequent) viewing, I could think somewhat clearly and I realized that it looks like they sprinked some old clips in there, along with a bunch of mixed ones from future episodes, not just 'Death Takes a Holiday'. Unless I'm mistaken, that hospitalized Dean scene looks like it could belong in 'In My Time of Dying', but I don't remember Dean from that camera angle precicely... if that makes sense. And the Sam/Ruby love scene looks like it was taken from 'I Know What You Did Last Summer', but flipped. The explody blue light shot could be from 'Are you There, God? It's me, DW' when they vanquish the 'witnesses', but it looks slightly different from when I watched it... in the trailer, looks like it's coming from someone (Sam, anyone?) sitting down, not standing, like in 'AYTG, IMDW'.

This trailer made me think: Umm did anyone think that maybe Dean might be the one to dabble in the dark side? Beyond the giant (metaphorical) entity of 'Evil-Sam' looming up ahead (being set up by having him use his powers and the whole contrasty Dean/Angel & Sam/Demon hookups), did I ever consider that it could be Dean that goes darksdide? I mean, a weekend in Hell is bound to mess with your head. Just a little. Then there's the Alistair torture (!!!) thing. And the Reaper saying that good things are in store for Dean and all. And this is Death we're talking to, mind you, and might have very different ideas of what 'good things' are. I remember that nicey-nice attitude from 'In My Time of Dying', Miss Reaper... don't think I don't!

Extremely excited for a darker Sam, (as well as a darker Dean, for that matter!) and can't wait for Castiel to pop back in... that character looks like it's gonna kick some butt when he comes back! *dances* If this trailer isn't the perfect way to keep fans biting their nails for what's to come, I don't know what is!!

That's what I began to wonder too!

I rarely watch trailers or read spoilers 'cause I'm one of those who think spoilers kill some of the enjoyment. But I "accidentally" watched this and I gotta say this is a great trailer. At least it made me excited! I didn't notice any scenes of the brothers together... Does anyone think it presents the rift between Sam and Dean or am I reading way too much into it?

I do not think Dean will dabble into his dark side full-time in the way Sam is. But I do think he will torture Alistair as revenge for what happened to him in Hell.

At least that's what I think . . .

The rift between the two is definitely coming, but I'm not sure if they'll be physically separated from each other.
Hey Tim, what's that e-mail address again?

I agree. I dont think the brothers will be physically separated. Morally, yes, but physically? No. As we've said time and time again on the podcast, the brothers ARE the show.

But big things are boiling . . .

Too true. The whole point of the show is that everything Sam and Dean go through, they go through together-- the good, the bad, and the ugly. (that wasn't a reference at all... ) It's about the diffrent ways they react when poop does happen... and it happens a lot!

What I find intresting is that for 4 months (I really do hope the show elaborates on Sam's time without Dean a bit more... who am I kidding? a LOT more!), there was no 'together', no 'SamnDean'... Cuz Dean was kinda in Hell. I mean, Dean lost Sam in season 2, but that didn't last more than a couple days, at most. Even then, there was that 'is Sammy still 100% Sammy' card thrown in there, that doubt (which is kind of a mini-version of what's hapening in season 4). And Sam just lost Dean for 4 months, so: Doubt x100 = a little less trust between brothers than fans are used to.

I think it'd be really cool if this season (or the next season. becuse it will get picked up. It WILL!) actually served to strengthen their relationship in the end... make them realize they do need each other (more than we already know they do :P ). In my mind, the 'worser' things get (yeah, that's totally a word) this season, the stronger the relationship will turn out to be. Well, I hope.
